Surrendering to Today

Waking before dawn I was not prepared for the surprise as the sun woke the sleepy morning: snow. Good Ole- New England, “just kidding, it isn’t really Spring yet” flakes on the ground. I did smile, for a moment, and then didn’t! It struck me that my warm walk in the sunshine would not be happening today. I’ll need to learn to be content to sit by a warm fire! Plans changed again, learning, grasping, letting go. I’m hoping my seed tucked deep into the earth will rise again. Will we? By mid-day I am praying it all goes away, like so many other things right now, but perhaps, I could stand content and peaceful in this moment, of frozen in time and just breathe.

God is with us and He has made this day, uniquely a gift to me and the world. May we know His peace and presence in it as we say:

“This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

Psalm 118:24

What will you be glad about today?

“So, we bear God within us, both in body and in spirit, in everything we do.”

- St. Leo the Great, Pope Sermon 12 on the Passion
