Shaken Foundations
“But our foundations have been shaken badly and need repair,”
Rejecting Fear Chapter 5
I think about those in Ukraine, suffering unrelenting bombings and attacks, I cannot help but think of the foundation of their very lives standing in rubble and ruins. No matter what political bent you have or do not have, innocent women and children, even maternity hospitals have been shattered and shaken by the unthinkable.
How do we respond? Yes, we pray. Of course. But we find ways to help. The trauma Ukrainians are experiencing, the trauma the young Russian soldiers who surrendered are experiencing, the trauma of those being detained because of their stand against war, all of this must be processed and reconciled.
I am not saying it is easy, but it is possible. I did not know, as I was writing Rejecting Fear, this past year that war would break out and people would be living in fear. Fear for their lives, fear for their families, fear for the world. But here we are.
I am publishing my book in English but would love to find supporters who would help me translate the book into Ukrainian, so that we can put tools in their hands to reject the fear and oppression they have been living under, so they can heal their story and their lives.
And now, I may have this unique opportunity to go to Bulgaria in June, and lead a conference on my book, Rejecting Fear. If I could translate the book into Bulgarian as well, it could help those hosting the refugees who have fled Ukraine. Pray for the doors to continue to swing wide open, so that we can help people rebuild their shattered foundations.
