Walking in a broken world

Three years ago, I was in Italy with a friend when we drove by this beautiful sunflower field. It was priceless; Italian summer sun shimmering off thousands of sunflower petals. I am so glad it is a beloved symbol of Ukraine ~ it captures hope and light. I remember reading weeks ago about the flower shop re-opening in Mariupol. Today is a bleaker day. But I cannot control invasions and violence, and evil. Only how I respond. I must find my peace within and bring it to the chaos in the world.

I choose three things every day…

~ the thoughts I will keep

~ the story you tell yourself

~ the emotions I want to resolve

How will you walk in this broken world today? Of course, our prayers are with Ukrainians, and we hope and pray for an end to the violence and evil in the world. For myself, I must only take tiny bits of it in. I want to be informed, yes, but if my heart breaks because I am merely human and frail, I must plant sunflowers to restore my strength and hope.

What thoughts are you keeping? What story are you telling yourself? What emotions need to be released? Look for my book, Rejecting Fear, if you want help with the process of walking in this weary world.
